Products to protect your oral health as dental problems soar during the Covid pandemic

NEW figures reveal that 85 per cent of millennials have undetected tooth decay – and the Covid pandemic has led to huge increases in dental problems.

Today we look at ways to help brush up on your oral health, and our Beauty Editor puts bath oils to the test.

TONGUE SCRAPER

  • RW Perio, £14, rwperio.com.

I’ve never thought of using these before, but they prevent unwanted bacteria from harvesting in the mouth, remove toxins and stop you having stinky breath.

RW Perio, a specialist practice dedicated to the treatment of gum diseases, has just brought out this scraper. It comes in silver or rose gold finish. Once you’ve got used to doing it, your mouth doesn’t feel fully clean unless you use.

SUBSCRIPTION

  • Floe, £19 every three months and free delivery, getfloe.com

Floe is a new oral health subscription. Every three months you get a kit including a Swiss-designed toothbrush, bamboo charcoal dental floss and a morning and evening toothpaste.

Send the used products back with a free returns label when the new box arrives. A great idea.

BUDGET

  • Tisserand x National Geographic (£10.20 for 100ml tisserand.com)

Natural bath oil to moisturise sensitive skin. The lavender and chamomile scent is ultra-relaxing and a few capfuls of this in the bath is a perfect way to de-stress before bed.

Coconut and sweet almond oils ensure your skin is left calm and nourished. Great value, too.

MID-RANGE

  • Von Norten, lavender and bergamot bath and shower oil (£31 for 250ml, vonnorten.se)

This bath and shower oil is enriched with vitamins A, D and E, as well as antioxidant-rich almond oil to hydrate and protect the skin. This quickly absorbed into my skin leaving it silky smooth.

Made with naturally derived ingredients, so suitable for sensitive and irritated skin. Great value for such a big bottle and this one left my skin the softest of the three.

LUXURY

  • Verdant Alchemy, Drift Off bath and shower oil (£42 for 100ml, verdantalchemy.co.uk)

Essential oil lavender is included to relax and aid sleep, while apricot kernel oil – rich in vitamins K and E – hydrates and soothes the skin.

Also contains vetiver, a herb proven to relieve anxiety and promote relaxation and sleep. Mandarin adds a warm citrus note. Pricey but a small amount was enough. Left my skin soft and hydrated.
