Glass Entertainment Group Options Adam Cohen’s Book ‘Supreme Inequality’ For TV Adaptation

EXCLUSIVE: Glass Entertainment Group, the Emmy-winning production company behind such programs as Pope: The Most Powerful Man In History, has secured rights to bestselling author Adam Cohen’s book Supreme Inequality: The Supreme Court’s 50-Year Battle for a More Unjust America, to adapt into a television docuseries.

Per the book’s synopsis, Supreme Inequality surveys the most significant Supreme Court rulings since the Nixon era and exposes how rarely the Court has veered away from its agenda of promoting inequality. Many of the greatest successes of the Warren Court of the 1950s and 1960s, in areas such as school desegregation, voting rights, and protecting workers, have been abandoned in favor of rulings that protect corporations and privileged Americans, who tend to be white, wealthy, and powerful. As the nation comes to grips with new Trump-appointed justices, Cohen proves that the modern Court has been one of the leading forces behind the nation’s soaring level of economic inequality, and that an institution revered as a source of fairness has been systematically making America less fair.

The television adaptation will closely follow the narrative course of the book, which is based on Cohen’s years of research.

GEG’s Nancy Glass and Eric Neuhaus will executive produce, along with Cohen.

“The work of Adam Cohen is timely, relevant and essential at this moment in history,” said Nancy Glass, CEO of GEG. “We are very excited about the opportunity to bring this important book to life.”

“Americans have been badly misled about the Supreme Court,” added Cohen. “For the past 50 years, it has not been a champion of the disadvantaged – it has consistently ruled in favor of corporations and rich people, and against the poor and the working class. This myth-busting documentary is badly needed – particularly now that Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Court’s most prominent champion of the disadvantaged, is gone. Americans are entitled to the truth about one of the nation’s most important – and, at times, dangerous – institutions.”

Cohen is a leading authority on the Supreme Court, having covered the topic for The New York Times editorial page for eight years, and before that for Time magazine. His book Imbeciles: The Supreme Court, American Eugenics, and the Sterilization of Carrie Buck, is being adapted into a film starring and executive produced by Dakota Johnson. Cohen is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review.

The acquisition is part of a strategy of developing unique IP for GEG, which also is behind the upcoming Lincoln: An American President on CNN. Most recently, the company launched Balthazar Entertainment with executive producer and TV personality Brian Balthazar (Flip or Flop) as well as the hit Apple podcast Dating Diaries: Quarantine Confessions. GEG also producing series including The Vet Life (Animal Planet), Heartland Vets: DVM (NatGeo Wild), Queen of Stylz (snapchat), Frozen in Time (HGTV), as well as unannounced projects for HGTV, Oxygen, MTV, Magnolia, and HLN.

Fox News Flash top entertainment and celebrity headlines are here. Check out what’s clicking today in entertainment.

A new accuser has stepped forward and filed a complaint against convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein.

According to the Daily News, a 61-year-old woman filed a complaint with the NYPD Special Victims Division alleging that in 1995 or 1996, while at a Manhattan nightclub with Weinstein, he forced her to perform oral sex on him.

Detectives are now investigating the accusation, according to sources. The alleged assault is considered a first-degree criminal sexual act and has no statute of limitations on prosecution. A rep for Weinstein did not immediately return Fox News' request for comment.

Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence in New York for his conviction on third-degree rape and forcible sexual assault of two women. He was sentenced in February and is in the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, N.Y., east of Buffalo.

On Oct. 2, the disgraced movie producer was hit with six new counts of forcible sexual assault, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced at the time.

The new charges stem from alleged incidents involving two women and adds three felony counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation, the District Attorney's Office said.

Two of the counts include an alleged incident between September 2004 and September 2005 in which Weinstein allegedly raped a woman at a hotel in Beverly Hills, according to the amended case file.

The amended criminal complaint also accuses Weinstein of allegedly raping another woman on two separate occasions in November 2009 and November 2010 at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

Weinstein now stands charged with four counts of rape, four counts of forcible oral copulation, two counts of sexual battery by restraint, and one count of sexual penetration by use of force. The counts involve five women and stem from crimes that allegedly spanned from 2004 to 2013, the District Attorney's Office said in the amended case file.

Sweet 4-Pound Chihuahua Who Mothers Animals in Need Voted Most Heroic Dog in America

The most heroic dog in America has been declared!

MacKenzie, a Chihuahua who weighs only 4 pounds, was named the country's "most heroic canine" over 407 canine competitors at the American Humane Hero Dog Awards: 10th Anniversary Celebration last Monday, hosted by Carson Kressley on the Hallmark Channel.

The winner was chosen through a combination of public votes and a panel of celebrity animal lovers, including  Jamie Chung, Erik Estrada, Danielle Fishel, Daniel Henney, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Marcus Scribner, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega and Ariel Winter.

"The American Humane Hero Dog Awards were created to honor some of the world’s most extraordinary heroes," said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization. "These heroic canines have gone above and beyond the call of duty, saving lives on the battlefield, comforting the ill and aged, and reminding us of the powerful, age-old bond between animals and people. All seven category winners exemplify what it means to be a hero, and we hope that their stories–including MacKenzie’s — will inspire people to value our animal friends and recognize how much they do for us every day."

MacKenzie was born in Hilton, New York with a cleft palate and struggled with contracting aspiration pneumonia, which nearly took her life. But MacKenzie managed to overcome her birth defect and other health issues and began working for The Mia Foundation, a non-profit that rescues and nurtures animals born with birth defects who cannot physically be with their mothers.

"Her job is to provide love and care for baby rescue animals born with birth defects," the American Humane shared in a release. "MacKenzie takes an interest in each baby from day one, no matter the species or size. She plays nurse and cleans, comforts, and cuddles them. She acts as their mother and teaches them how to socialize, play, and have good manners."

In addition, MacKenzie is tasked with interacting with children at schools, teaching them how to be open-minded toward animals and people with physical differences.

"They learn kindness, patience, and that you can make a difference in the world no matter how small you are," said the American Humane.

Along with MacKenzie's honor the American Humane Hero Dog Awards also gave prizes to 2020's top therapy dog, service dog, military dog, guide/hearing dog, law enforcement dog, and search and rescue dog.

National forecast for Monday, October 26

    Janice Dean has your FoxCast.

Tens of thousands of residents in Southern California were ordered to evacuate on Monday as a wildfire exploded while the region faced gusty Santa Ana Winds.

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) said that mandatory evacuations were issued in the Irvine area due to the Silverado Fire. The blaze started around 6:47 a.m in the area of Santiago Canyon Road and was reported to be around 10 acres, according to the city of Irvine.

"The fire started in Silverado Canyon, and helicopters and fixed wing aircraft are on the way," Irvine Mayor Christina Shea said in a news release. "The wind is making it move very quickly."

EXTREME FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS CALIFORNIA, SOUTHWEST

In a matter of hours, the blaze exploded to at least 2,000 acres, Cal Fire said.

The Silverado Fire rapidly grew to 2,000 acres Monday in Orange County, Calif., driven by gusty winds.

The OCFA said that approximately 60,000 people are evacuating the Irvine area, and that flames jumped the 241 Freeway.

The California Highway Patrol announced there are closures on area roadways due to the blaze.

SANTA ANA WINDS: WHAT ARE THEY?

The smoky fire in Orange County has quickly threatened neighborhoods in Irvine, a sprawling city of about 280,000 people.

“Structures are threatened,” OCFA said just before 9 a.m.

Mandatory evacuation orders are in place for residents in the Orchard Hills community on Irvine Boulevard from Jamboree to Bake Parkway.

Kelsey Brewer and her three roommates said they decided to leave their townhouse before the evacuation order came in. Due to the pandemic, they decided to go to the home of her girlfriend’s mother, who has ample space and lives alone.

“We literally talked about it this morning,” Brewer told the Associated Press. “We can only imagine how screwed everyone else feels. There’s nowhere you can go to feel safe.”

Around 60,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate due to the Silverado Fire.
    (Orange County Fire Authority)

It’s not clear what started the Orange County fire.

The fire was expected to continue growing rapidly due to a Santa Ana wind event that's currently bringing gusty winds to Southern California as the region faces dry conditions that allow for rapid fire spread.

On Monday morning, winds were gusting 50-55 mph in the area, FOX11 reported.

The National Weather Service warned residents between Tustin and Foothill Ranch areas to “stay vigilant.”

The fire danger is critical to extreme from California to the Southwest with dry conditions, warm temperatures, and gusty winds through the next few days.

Fire flag warnings stretch through the West and California on Monday due to critical to extreme fire danger.

The winds are associated with the blast of arctic air bringing the snow to the nation's midsection. Widespread wind and red flag warnings are in place.

Critical conditions are also expected across Northern California, with fire danger lasting through Tuesday. The nation's largest utility has cut power to over 361,000 customers in that region to prevent wildfires from being started by electrical equipment that has been damaged in the winds.

NYPD's suspension of ‘Trump 2020’ cop is ‘double standard,’ union says

Tom Homan on NYPD bracing for 2020 protests

Leaked memo published in the New York Post reportedly coming from NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea warns police officers to brace for intensified protests in the coming weeks; reaction from Fox News contributor Tom Homan.

The Sergeants Benevolent Association has accused NYPD top brass of a “double standard” after an officer was suspended for blaring “Trump 2020” over a patrol-car loudspeaker – while his boss was praised for taking a knee with Black Lives Matter protesters.

“The NYPD has a history of officers making political & outside the norm statements & ignoring it,” the SBA tweeted Sunday amid the investigation into Saturday’s incident in Brooklyn.

“Suspending this officer is unnecessary & way over the top. Chief of Department took a knee with protestors no disciplinary action was issued,” the SBA said of Terence Monahan.

The union then took even more direct aim at Monahan, retweeting his claim that officers have to “remain apolitical” – along with a New York Post photo of him taking a knee with George Floyd protesters on June 1.

“What’s the status of this investigation? Oh wait double standard white shirt immunity!” the SBA tweeted.

“Terence you said nothing when Captains & Chiefs took a knee with violent protesters who injured members of the NYPD. You say nothing to those who sing & dance in uniform.

“Now your little itsy-bitsy balls are in DeBlasio’s palm & you tweet nonsense. Relax & take a knee!” the union raged.

Monahan had joined Police Commissioner Dermot Shea as well as Mayor Bill de Blasio in condemning videos that showed the officer repeatedly saying “Trump 2020” in Flatbush on Saturday night.

The officer, whom police sources identified as Arthur Becerra of the 70th Precinct, was suspended without pay Sunday.

The SBA said officers are “rightfully” supporting the president.

“The Democratic Party has abandoned police officers, encouraged violence and lawlessness. People are being murdered in Democratic run cities,” the union wrote, tagging President Trump as well as his sons Eric and Don Jr.

Meghan Markle 'Has Not Given Up' on Jessica Mulroney Following Scandal

Meghan Markle is remaining loyal to her friend, Jessica Mulroney, despite Mulroney’s controversy this past summer with influencer Sasha Exeter. ET has learned that the 39-year-old Duchess of Sussex has remained in touch with the 40-year-old Canadian stylist and TV personality in recent months.

“Jessica has been a dear friend to Meghan in her most difficult moments over many years and while Jessica’s comments may have been misguided and tone-deaf, Meghan has not given up on her,” a source tells ET.

Last month, Mulroney spoke out about her relationship with Prince Harry’s wife in a since-deleted post.

“I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday,” she wrote at the time. “Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done.”

ET’s source adds that Mulroney and Markle still speak, noting, “Jessica publicly apologized for the controversy and has been on a journey to better herself and become aware of the unconscious bias that exists in society.”

Mulroney came under fire in June for her feud with Exeter, who claimed that the stylist “took offense” to her call to action amid the Black Lives Matter movement and alleged that Mulroney had used her “textbook white privilege” to send her a “threat in writing.”

Mulroney publicly apologized on Instagram and purposefully took some time out of the spotlight to “reflect, learn, and listen.”

Her CTV show, I Do, Redo, was canceled as a result of the scandal, as was her contributor status on Good Morning America. Additionally, Mulroney’s husband, Ben Mulroney, stepped down from his anchor role on CTV’s Your Morning.

At the time, a source told ET that Markle was taking a step back from her friendship with Mulroney.

“She’s distanced herself from Jessica because the comments were unacceptable and offensive,” a source told ET. “[Meghan’s friends have been] concerned for some time that Jessica has been profiting from her relationship with Meghan and using it to further her brand. That’s something [Prince] William and Harry have never accepted with any of their friends.”

Markle and Prince Harry have lent their voices to the call for change and social justice around the world in recent months.

‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Adds Its First Asian American Cast Member With Crystal Kung Minkoff

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is adding new housewife Crystal Kung Minkoff for Season 11, Variety has confirmed.

Kung Minkoff marks the first-ever Asian American cast member to join the franchise. Her addition to the show comes as Bravo has been increasing efforts to diversify its casts across its programming.

Kung Minkoff will join Kyle Richards, Erika Girardi, Lisa Rinna, Garcelle Beauvais and Dorit Kemsley in Season 11, which will no longer feature former cast members Teddi Mellencamp and Denise Richards, who departed after the most recent season.

Kung Minkoff is an entrepreneur who founded Real Coco, a company specializing in coconut products. While not all “Housewives” cast members across the franchises are married, Kung Minkoff’s husband, Rob Minkoff, is filmmaker, who directed the original “Lion King” in 1994, the “Stuart Little” films and Eddie Murphy’s “Haunted Mansion.” The couple has been married for 13 years and shares two children. (Families of the “Housewives” are typically seen on the show, as storylines center around their personal and professional lives.)

Beauvais was added to the show last season, becoming the first-ever Black cast member to appear on the “Beverly Hills” series. With Kung Minkoff’s addition, the show will feature the most diverse cast in its 11-year history.

And next season on “The Real Housewives of New York City,” journalist and attorney Eboni K. Williams will be the first Black star to join that installment, which is entering Season 13. At the time of her casting, Williams said, “NYC is filled with successful and dynamic Black women. I’m excited to join this legendary franchise as the first Black housewife.”

Since 2008, Bravo has been airing the predominantly Black series “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” which is one of the network’s highest-rated shows, in addition to shows like “Real Housewives of Potomac” and “Married to Medicine,” which also feature Black cast members. But in recent months, the network has been putting extra attention on its diversity and inclusion efforts, especially following highly publicized scandals surrounding racist actions of cast members on some of their whiter shows, “Vanderpump Rules” and “Below Deck,” which resulted in Bravo firing numerous reality stars.

“We are looking to increase the diversity of our shows,” Bravo executive Shari Levine recently said in an interview with Variety, adding, “We are mindful of what the moment is. And we all feel the same in terms of intolerance, and in terms of being part of a culture that doesn’t inflict pain on people.”

13 Cropped Puffer Jackets, With Faux Leather, Black, Pastel, & More Styles

You know that super long, plain, boring, not-that-cute puffer coat sitting in the back of your closet? The one you literally dread having to pull out every winter because it just makes you feel, like, kinda sad? Introducing to you a novel concept: Toss it out, and replace it with one of these ultra-cool cropped puffer jackets.

OK, OK, maybe don’t throw away your trusty-but-crusty long puffer, because it probably does do a great job of keeping you warm on the insufferably cold days. But adding a cute, affordable cropped puffer jacket to your rotation easily breaks up the monotony and keeps you nice and toasty at the same time. Also, there are some reallyyyyy cute puffer coat options out there, beyond your basic black ones. I’m talking faux leather cropped puffers, ones with racing stripes, pastels, prints, even holographic mini puffer coats. Peep some cropped puffer jackets just waiting to enter your winter rotation below.

We only include products that have been independently selected by YOUR BRAND’s editorial team. However, we may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

When you love the look of your favorite leather jacket, but you need added warmth, combine it with a puffer jacket. It’s science… kind of. The above option combines the effortlessly cool look of a leather jacket with a puffer, but doesn’t compromise on mobility.

Look, I’m sorry I went a little overboard with hating on a good ole black puffer earlier. Because there’s really so much to love about this black cropped puffer above. It’s roomy, versatile, and comes with a tall neck guard to ensure the wind stays off your skin.

My friend recently wore this exact faux leather puffer to brunch, and in that moment, I knew both you and I had to have it. The neutral beige colorway keeps it extremely wearable, although it’s a nice break from all-black if, like me, that’s usually the only color you wear in the cold.

Reversible outwear doesn’t get enough hype, and you can quote me on that. It’s two jackets!!! In one!!! For the price of one!!! The above jacket from the X-girl x NONA9ON collab — white on the outside and yellow with a racing checker pattern on the inside — will surely become your favorite winter statement piece.

Another solid black option (figuratively and literally), this option from Missguided boasts a slightly longer crop, and it has a hood. You look cute, you’re warm, and you’re safe from the elements. Win, win, win.

The exaggerated shawl collar on this puffer is simply *chef’s kiss*, and it adds a sartorial touch that other puffers lack. Even better, the dusty, pastel pink color feels fun and bright in a season when darkness reigns supreme.

You heard it here first, folks: Lavender is the color for fall… and let’s throw in all the other seasons while we’re at it. This effortlessly cool lavender puffer from Monki feels bright without being overwhelming. Plus, the hood can be tightened to lock in warmth on the arctic days.

OK, not to be dramatic, but I need six of this exact puffer, and I needed them, like, yesterday. While holographic clothing items can occasionally hinge on too kitschy or costume-y, this iridescent puffer from Pull & Bear feels more ethereal, particularly appropriate for the feeling you get walking through light snow.

Though a little pricey, this Hilary MacMillan puffer’s quality is well worth the cost. Aside from being made of 100% cruelty-free fabric, the material is easy to wipe down and keep looking pristine for months on end. It’s long enough to keep your torso fully warm, but no so long that it feels drab; not to mention, the shawl collar adds a sartorial touch that feels luxurious.

This Daily Paper puffer expertly balances utility with style. The dusty pink color is visually interesting, but muted enough to still act as a neutral, while the neck guard and hood keep you warm and protected. On the other hand, this silhouette boasts an optimal crop length, and the logo on the upper left chest is just the perfect touch.

If a full-on opalescent puffer is a little too much holographic for you, this black holographic option will better suit you. The jacket catches a hint of rainbow in the light, but otherwise, it looks like an equally cool metallic black puffer. In other words, this’ll fit your all-black wardrobe with just a liiiiiittle sparkle.

With larger puffed-panels and a roomy neck guard that folds out easily into a collar, this faux leather puffer from Eloquii has everything you could want for the cold-weather months. Even better, the elastic wrist cuffs trap in tons of extra warmth. Just be careful: You might not wanna take this baby off.

If you made it this far, you deserve a puffer that’s as fun as it functional. (I’m sorry lol.) This black and lavender leopard print puffer isn’t too puffy, and it’s extra cropped, meaning you can toss it over anything and still be able to move around pretty freely. A bold jacket for a bold winter? Yes, please.

Olivia Culpo Says She Felt 'Really Ugly' Growing Up, Was Put on a Diet at Age 10

“I had to look myself in the mirror and say, ‘Okay, you’re different,’ because I was different.”

Olivia Culpo is opening up about struggling with her body image as a preteen.

While appearing alongside her sister Aurora on the latest episode of the podcast, “Emergency Contact,” the former Miss Universe, who said she was overweight as a kid, recalled having issues with her confidence growing up, saying she felt like the “ugly duckling” of the family.

Tori Spelling Recalls Being Bullied Over Her Looks, 'Hurtful' Comments About Her Eyes

“I was chubby, hairy…Honestly growing up I felt really ugly which is a terrible thing to say,” began Olivia, 28. “My siblings, my parents. They are so beautiful. I was overweight. I was really different looking. My older sister looked like the Barbie doll.”

“I was fat,” she continued, saying she was “teased” because of her weight. “I had to look myself in the mirror and say, ‘Okay, you’re different,’ because I was different. I don’t look like anybody in my family.”

The model said her and Aurora’s dad, Peter, put her on a diet when she was 10.

“Our dad is amazing but our dad is like, Type A and has run over a dozen marathons,” Olivia said. “When I was 10 years old, yeah, I was put on those diets and I kind of realized, when you put in the work you get the results. It kind of all started from there.”

Although Olivia was struggling at the time, she said it molded her into the confident and hardworking person she became.

“It’s just so weird the way that your life develops and I’m so grateful for the hard times that happened,” she explained. “I said, ‘You know what Olivia? You have to work hard.’ I could have kind of gone I guess in two directions. I either could have just been okay with being made fun of and different…or you can just kind of work hard.”

“She knew that she was overweight, so I think that she developed a skill for situating herself in situations where she would get the most attention,” Aurora added of her sister. “And then she got hot and she had that skill. That’s how you get on ‘Sports Illustrated.'”
